Irish Festivities

This past weekend I knocked another item off of my list; I attended the Rochester Irish Festival. The day started with a stop by the public market with Moose. We did some beer tasting at Rohrbach's and proceeded to purchase a growler of blueberry beer. I've dated an array of Irish boys, so I know beer is a staple item in an Irish diet. We purchased two bottles of water simply to get a red cup (our attempt at being discrete while drinking alcoholic beverages in public). Bottled water = $2; Moose hands the boy a 20 dollar bill; he asks if she wants change... Ummm, yup. Sorry buddy, you're cute and we feel bad that your parents make you sell bottled water at the public market in 85 degree weather, but you're not getting a $18 tip, just saying. We enjoyed our blueberry beer while sitting outside Java's Cafe and watched drama erupt which was comical to all bystanders, especially once the police got involved. I love Rochester!

After the market shenanigans, I headed to Camp Eastman at Durand for the Irish Festival, where I met up with Kristen, Brian and Cam. We sipped pitchers of Harp and enjoyed the day. They had kid’s activities, which I watched but kept my beer in hand. I like a handful of children, the others I just see as having boogers dripping down their faces and smell like dirty diapers, even if they don't. Cam did some Irish dancing with some young ladies, while Auntie Yiss sipped her brew. I considered getting some sort of Irish food, for the full effect of the Irish Fest, but Irish cuisine in general is just not appealing to me, at all. I have nightmares of corned beef.

After the Irish Fest we headed to Park Point to watch my favorite cover band Something Else perform, followed by Big Eyed Fish, a Dave Matthews cover band. I'm not a DMB fan; every song sounds the same to me, puts me to sleep. But the combo of live music, end of summer, tasty beverages and good company kept me around to listen.

All in all, a great end to Alyssa Week 2011!

#100 = Complete, Courtesy of a Fellow Diva!

I've completed item number 100 on my list, to inspire someone to create a list of their own, Miss Shirley Sawyer! Shirley and I became friends through a mutual friend, Renee Elwood, and together the three of us became Divas. No, not bitchy women who do anything to get what they want, we are The Divas, a female running group.

After I posted my list for the world to see via Facebook, Shirley said she'd love to do one of her own. She's been working on her list, which consisted of about 25 items as of last Saturday, but her goal was to have a completed list by today, Thursday 9/1/11, as she'll be knocking off item #2 which is to donate her hair to Locks of Love. I think what she is doing is AWESOME! Actually, her whole list is fantastic; I may have to steal a few items from it. My rule to myself was that I can only change my list if I feel it's an upgrade. Personally, I think number's 28 (Swim in a fountain) and 29 (Do something illegal) are definite upgrades. I think her and I should tackle those items together, Diva style, complete with feather boas and knee high socks!
